OANDP-L is an email discussion list that reaches over 7000 people connected with the Orthotics & Prosthetics profession worldwide. If you have a long-term interest in the O&P field, then we hope you will subscribe and stay on the list. However, if your goal is to ask a single question and you won't need to be on the list after that, the following instructions will guide you in getting on the list, asking your question, and then signing off so you don't receive future messages.

  1. Go to the OANDP-L Subscribe page (link will open in a new window). Enter your name and email address on the right.
  2. Click the "Subscribe" button and a request will be sent to add you to the list. It may take a few hours, or up to a few days at some times, for your request to be approve. Once it is, you'll get an email with some information about the list, and you may also begin receiving messages that other people post to the list (usually a few per day). You can just delete them if they aren't of interest to you.
  3. Once you are on the list, you can send your question in an email addressed to and it will be delivered to all list members once it is approved (please ensure that your message meets the acceptable use guidelines). You will not get a copy of your own message, but as soon as it goes out you will begin receiving automated responses from some list members saying that they are on vacation, etc. These are unavoidable, so just delete them. The purpose that they do serve is to let you know that your message has gone out.
  4. After that, people will reply directly to you if they have any information about your question. Of course, it may take several days for some people to reply. If you receive responses that you find helpful, we ask that you compile them into one message and send it back to the list at , so that everyone else will have the answers to your question, and you'll be helping to build the public body of knowledge in the profession.
  5. Once you have received your responses and posted them back to the list if they were helpful, you have a couple of options. You can stay on the list and continue to receive all messages, or you can unsubscribe if you are done with the list forever, or you can simply turn off messages so that you're still technically on the list (and can post additional questions in the future), but you don't actually get the e-mails that other people send. If you choose to stay on the list and continue to receive messages, you don't have to do anything. If you want to unsubscribe or stay on the list but stop receiving messages, follow the appropriate instructions below:
    1. To totally unsubscribe, send a message to and in the BODY of the message, type:
    2. To remain on the list but stop receiving messages, send a message to and in the BODY of the message, type:

Note that all of the above commands will only work if you are subscribed to the list under the same email address that appears on your messages when you send them.
